The Queen's Own
Program Description: The Queen's Own is the first Royal Honor Guard since 1893 with the duty to stand sentry at the Waineʻe Royal Mausoleum at Waiola Church, Lahaina, Hawaiʻi. The Queen's Own serves to provide a source of strength and identity for all people of Hawaiʻi and works to emulate the finest examples of Hawaiʻi's Aliʻi.
Mission: Educate the public through perpetuation and the preservation of Cultural and Historic sites.
Unit Patron: Sacred High Chiefess, HM Queen Keōpūolani
Unit Colors: Red, Gold
Unit Motto: "Kūlia I Ka Nu'u", "Strive for the Highest"

Unit Background: The Queen's Own carries only the Hawaiian flag on parade to properly emulate historical units during the Hawaiian Kingdom. All protocol and ceremony are conducted in the Hawaiian language. Drill is done to the United Kingdom standard as it was during the time of the Hawaiian monarchy. The Queen's Own pay Honor to HM Queen Keopuolani as the unit patron and HM Queen Kapiolani as we use her motto. Since August 1st, 2009, the Queen's Own stands sentry over the Royal Mausoleum at Waine'e Cemetary, Waiola Church, Lahaina, Hawaii.
Historical Background during the Monarchy: The Queen's Own was a Volunteer Guard Company during the Time of His Majesty King DavidKalakaua and was enacted in to service by Legislature in 1885. The Queen's Own was formed in honor of Her Majesty Queen Kapi'olani, The wife of King Kalākaua. Drill and Ceremony was done to the United Kingdom standard.
