Unit Description: Liliʻuokalani’s Own will address cultural resilience and reduction of Hawaiian youth recidivism and youth truancy by connecting youth to their school and community and instilling the value of education for their long term success. Our target population is at-risk Native Hawaiian high school students, grades 9-12. The program consists of two components: 1) Prevention and diversion of delinquency and truancy; 2) Reintegration of targeted youth in post-treatment/care into their communities. The program will develop a unique curriculum which will be implemented in both components mentioned above. Liliʻuokalani's Own will be open to all of Hawaiʻi's youth with first preference to Native Hawaiian youth.

Unit Background: HM Queen Lili'uokalani is chosen as the Unit Patron in honor of her legacy to help her people remain steadfast in the seeking of knowledge, continue Hawaiian heritage and guide and protect Hawai'i's most valuable assest, the youth.
Historical Background during the Monarchy: Lili'uokalani's Own was not a chartered unit during the time of the Monarchy. However during the reign of Her Majesty Queen Lili'uokalani she had assigned to her The Royal Household Troop which was orignially designated as The Queen's Guard.
